Is There A Right Or Wrong Way To Learn Piano?
Mood:  caffeinated
Topic: piano
Is there "one true way" to learn piano?  Thankfully, there's not, although some may argue that certain ways are better than others. But hey, playing piano should be a creative, fun, enjoyable experience, so probably your biggest and fastest advances in skill come when you learn your own particular way.  These days, there are hundreds of ways to learn piano - ebooks, traditional books, DVDs, CDs, online multimedia, software programs, special keyboards, and the list goes on.  Your best bet?  Choose the way that sounds the most fun and that has helped othere learn piano, too, and you'll probably make leaps and bounds in your playing a lot faster than you thought.  Here's one of the current popular online courses to help you learn piano, starting in the next 11 minutes!

Learn To Read Piano Music In An Afternoon?
Mood:  happy
Now Playing: Hunchback of Notre Dame (move in the family room)
Topic: piano
Have you ever wanted to learn to read piano music, for your enjoyment, or perhaps with hopes of performing someday?  These days, it's actually possible to do that in just a few hours, especially with the help of all the excellent online piano courses available.  I taught piano lessons to an adult and a handful of kids a few years ago, and it took time, scheduling, money, lesson books, commitment, and lots of practice to get them to where they wanted to be.  Now, learning to read piano music couldn't be easier.  Technology is awesome.  I just wonder what the next 15 years will bring to piano education...
